This AWLS program is headquartered at the Springbrook Conservation Education Center, located an hour NW of Des Moines, in Springbrook State Park. The diverse habitats and activities available at the facility make it an ideal location for the program. The 5-day program changes each year, but includes orienteering, shooting of all types, wildlife calling, turtle trapping, fishing (lake, stream and pond), canoeing, camping, fish shocking, bird banding, rock climbing, fly tying and archery.
